A bill has been introduced in the State Duma that would grant the Defense Ministry the right to obtain data from the civil registry office database. This was reported on the website of the lower house.
In the explanatory note, the authors said the amendments are needed to simplify the procedure for providing social support to service members, as well as to "optimize military registration."
Among those who signed the document are Nina Ostanina, chair of the State Duma committee on family protection, Defense Committee head Andrei Kartapolov, and his deputy Andrei Krasov.
