By 2030, Russia’s Digital Development Ministry plans to allocate an additional 15 billion rubles, bringing the total to 84 billion rubles, to a federal project aimed at expanding internet blocking and filtering methods, Kommersant reports, citing a ministry order.
By 2030, the throughput of technical means for countering threats (TSPU) is expected to increase to 954 Tbit/s. Experts interviewed by the newspaper said this would make it possible to analyze all Runet traffic while accounting for its natural growth, the expansion of blocking, and the emergence of new circumvention methods.
The throughput of the automated security assurance system (ASBI), which includes TSPU, is to be increased 2.5 times. Earlier plans projected that by 2030 it would reach 752.6 Tbit/s. According to the ministry’s plan, by 2026 the system must process 100% of Runet traffic.
TSPU is a tool for deep traffic analysis and filtering. It can be used to block a website or a VPN protocol, determine which user visits which destinations, and what data they transmit, the project “Na svyazi” wrote.
