Yekaterinburg authorities are tracking social media, blogs, and apartment-building chats around the clock "in search of extremism." This was reported by Arseny Vaganov, deputy director of the city’s information policy department, as noted by journalists from "It’s my city."
According to the official, these measures are being taken to prevent the distribution of "extremist materials" and "fakes."
Andrei Ershov, deputy head of the Interior Ministry department for Yekaterinburg, said that most often "extremist crimes" are connected with the "distribution of materials" on the internet. He said the most vulnerable group remains young people, who are drawn into crimes through messengers.
In December 2025, Putin signed a law requiring the mandatory transfer of apartment-building chats to Max. The document obliges management companies and housing and utilities services to communicate with residents through a unified state service.
