Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Gleb Nikitin said that in 2025 the number of abortions performed on a woman's request in the region's state clinics fell by one-third compared with 2024 and was nearly five times lower than ten years ago. This was reported on his channel.
"Yes, these are our small victories, but this is not enough. The situation in the country is critical, and allowing abortion on request is too great a luxury. Our task is to try to eliminate such cases, but not through bans, rather through quality work, care, and responsibility!" Nikitin said during the meeting "Reserves for Increasing the Birth Rate."
The regional government also said that over the year the number of private clinics licensed to perform abortions in the Nizhny Novgorod Region fell from 55 to 9.
Doctors, psychologists, representatives of public organizations, and priests were present at the meeting with officials.
