A former freelance correspondent for Radio Liberty has been detained in Zabaykalsky Krai in a treason case, the FSB said.

According to the security services, he joined a Telegram channel allegedly controlled by the SBU. He then sent it information about the resources of a local media outlet that writes about the war in Ukraine, as well as “about a critical infrastructure facility.”

“The information obtained by Ukraine’s special services was used to carry out cyberattacks on the specified targets, which temporarily hindered the regional authorities in performing their duties,” the FSB said.

The journalist’s name has not been disclosed. The agency’s press release says he is a resident of Chita born in 1960.

As 7x7 noted, this likely refers to 65-year-old Alexander Andreyev. He headed the Chita branch of Valeriya Novodvorskaya’s party Western Choice and also wrote for Kasparov.Ru and MBKh Media.
