Tankers continue to pass through the Strait of Hormuz despite the US blockade. At least two vessels crossed it in 24 hours

At least two tankers passed through the Strait of Hormuz over the past 24 hours despite the fact that the United States has blockaded it. This follows from data from the Strait of Hormuz web map and the Vessel Finder ship tracker reviewed by Novaya-Europe.

One of the vessels is the Chinese tanker Rich Starry, which is under US sanctions and carries methanol. Another is Murlikishan (flag of Madagascar), which is also under sanctions and is heading to Iraq to load fuel oil. The Telegram channel Baza claims that another tanker, Peace Gulf (flag of Panama), also managed to pass through the strait on its way to the UAE.

As Novaya-Europe previously wrote, before the war in the Middle East the average traffic through the Strait of Hormuz was about 60 tankers per day. After the start of hostilities, an average of four to seven tankers passed through the strait.

Earlier, The Wall Street Journal reported that Saudi Arabia had urged the United States to lift the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz and begin negotiations with Iran.

On April 13, the United States began blocking maritime traffic to Iranian ports. The US military also started restricting traffic to Iran’s ports in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman.

At the same time, as noted, the United States is not obstructing other vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz and heading to ports in other countries.
