Vladimir Putin signed a decree relieving Yevgeny Primakov of his post as head of Rossotrudnichestvo. By another decree, Igor Chaika, the son of former Russian Prosecutor General Yury Chaika, was appointed to lead the agency.

In a comment to the Telegram channel «Раньше всех ну почти», Primakov said: “Dobby is free.”

Who is Igor Chaika. Igor Chaika is the son of former Russian Prosecutor General Yury Chaika, who now serves as Putin’s envoy to the North Caucasus Federal District. Chaika Jr. himself had served as deputy head of Rossotrudnichestvo since March 10, 2025. Until 2022, he owned the waste management operator Khartiya.

What Rossotrudnichestvo does. Rossotrudnichestvo is an agency subordinate to the Russian Foreign Ministry, created in 2008 by a decree signed by Dmitry Medvedev. It describes itself as a body engaged in promoting Russia’s “soft power” abroad through humanitarian cooperation, cultural and educational projects, as well as assisting a number of countries with issues of state-building.

Rossotrudnichestvo is also the agency that oversees the “Russian Houses” opened in dozens of countries around the world.
