On May 1, Perm hosted a sports relay race for the prize of the newspaper Zvezda. This was reported by the city’s mayor, Eduard Sosnin.
“Traditionally, teams from enterprises and factories came to the starting line: the relay united labor and sport, history and the present day,” he wrote.

Residents have been urged not to go outside and to keep their windows closed. The day before, the governor reported visiting the site of the fire. According to him, the situation was under control, but he provided no specific details. The sky above the city remains covered with black smoke.
