The youth branch of the Yabloko party in the Sverdlovsk region announced that it was dissolving itself after searches and a series of detentions.

The group’s leadership said that “under the current conditions” it saw no possibility of continuing its work. All posts in the organization’s Telegram channel were deleted.

Searches in Yekaterinburg

On April 29, police officers carried out searches at the homes of Yabloko activists in Yekaterinburg. At least five people were detained, but were later released without any protocols being drawn up.

The stated reason for the police action was the organization of letter-writing evenings for political prisoners in 2025.

Pressure ahead of elections

Earlier, in various regions of Russia, reports were filed against a number of Yabloko politicians and activists under the article on “displaying extremist symbols” because of posts mentioning Alexei Navalny. Because of those accusations, they lost the ability to take part in elections this year.

How party members are responding

Amid prosecutions over old posts, some party members have begun deleting their publications, channels, and social media accounts. According to the source, those who did so included Moscow branch head Kirill Goncharov, Sverdlovsk Yabloko member Egor Tkachenko, and Saratov branch leader Sergey Gendin.
