A 44-year-old Russian citizen was shot dead in the morning in the city of Biala Podlaska in eastern Poland, Polsat News reports. Nexta and SOTA say the victim was artist-caricaturist and actionist Semyon Skrepetsky.

Details. The attack took place today at about 10 a.m. in Biala Podlaska, located near the border of Poland and Belarus. According to police, an unidentified person fired several shots at the Russian man and then fled. The victim died from his wounds.

The motives for the attack are unknown, and the attacker’s identity has not yet been established. According to unverified information, the suspected killer was brought by a taxi driver from Belarus. After the attack, he allegedly tried to hide on the grounds of the Belarusian consulate, but was detained in time.

SOTA, citing the Telegram channel DzikMedia, writes that the victim of the attack was indeed Skrepetsky. Nexta notes that the artist had been living in Biala Podlaska in a refugee camp and later remained in the city with his family.

Who he was. Semyon Skrepetsky was a Russian artist, musician and blogger. He was known for his satirical, political and anti-war works. Most often, he made caricatures of Vladimir Putin and Joseph Stalin. In 2021, he left Russia for Poland because of the risk of political persecution.

Last week, Skrepetsky staged a performance in Berlin: he came to the Brandenburg Gate wearing bast shoes, with a Russian flag tied to his trousers, and carrying a painting depicting Stalin “feeding” Putin.
