The US and Iran Announce Reaching a Peace Agreement

US and Iranian officials said they had reached a peace agreement. This was announced by Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif. Later, the information was confirmed by US President Donald Trump and Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi.

Details. According to Sharif, the official ceremony for signing the peace treaty will take place on Friday, June 19, in Switzerland. It is not yet known who will attend.

According to the Pakistani prime minister, both sides announced an immediate and permanent cessation of military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon. In the near future, the US and Iran plan to hold a number of technical meetings.

Sharif also thanked Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey for mediating the deal.

“The agreement with Iran is now complete. Congratulations to everyone! I hereby confirm the immediate and free opening of the Strait of Hormuz, as well as the immediate lifting of the US Navy’s maritime blockade. Ships of the world, start your engines. Let the oil flow!” Trump wrote.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi also said that the text of the peace agreement had been approved and that the sides would sign it on Friday in Switzerland. He noted that the US and Iran had agreed to cease all combat operations and to open the Strait of Hormuz for shipping.

“Thanks to the determination, resilience, and heroic resistance of the armed forces and the people against the criminal enemy, America was forced to acknowledge the end of the war,” Iranian state TV said on air.
