A state of emergency has been introduced in the Troitskoye, Kievskoye, Yuzhnoye, and Keslerovskoye rural settlements of Krymsky District in Krasnodar Krai, the district administration reported.
Officials said the reason was a breach of the dam on the Kuban River near the Zapadny farmstead.
Following the incident, water continues to flow onto agricultural land and fill the Afipsky Canal. More than 4.3 hectares of farmland are already under water, most of it planted with wheat.
Authorities also warned of a threat of flooding to residential houses in the stanitsa of Troitskaya. Residents were notified about a possible evacuation. A temporary accommodation center has been opened at the local House of Culture.
Local media had reported flooding in the Krymsky and Slavyansky districts due to the overflow of the Kuban River at the beginning of last week. People were evacuated. At that time, local residents managed to stop the dam breach with the help of sandbags.
