The European Commission is proposing to ban entry into the EU for all Russian military personnel who fought against Ukraine. This measure is included in the planned 21st package of sanctions against Russia. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced this.

The entry ban is expected to apply to everyone who took part in Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, including both Russian citizens and foreign nationals who fought on Russia’s side.

Other measures proposed for approval under the 21st sanctions package include:

🔵 adding another 30 tankers and dozens of banks to the sanctions list;

🔵 keeping the price cap on Russian oil unchanged;

🔵 imposing new sanctions on Russia’s energy sector and, for the first time, on the fisheries sector;

🔵 banning the operations of foreign crypto exchanges over ties to Russia.

Reuters writes that 90 banks will fall under the new restrictions, although it is not known which ones exactly. According to the agency, this will be the largest package of restrictions against Russian banks.
