Russia has entered an intense flood season as rapid snowmelt and rainfall have caused inundation in multiple regions. According to the outlet, the most severe situation is in the North Caucasus: seven people have died in Dagestan, while in Chechnya floodwaters swept away houses, roads, bridges, and cars. Flooding has also been reported from Nizhny Novgorod to Omsk and from Udmurtia to Suzdal.
In Nizhny Novgorod, a high-alert regime has been introduced: nine rescue teams, more than 4,000 personnel, and 600 pieces of equipment have been deployed, and shelters for up to 40,000 people have been prepared. In Shiloksha, a temporary bridge was destroyed on April 3; according to EMERCOM, 9 low-water bridges, 2 road sections, and 248 residential plots are flooded across the region. In Chuvashia, the Bula River overflowed: in the Batyrevsky district water reached two settlements, yards and sheds at 9 homes were flooded, and one family with a child was moved to relatives.
In Udmurtia, several districts were flooded: in Kizner, 50 yards on six streets were inundated, and in Igra, 96 houses were under water by the morning of April 7. The village of Gulyaevo has been cut off since March 30 because the bridge over the Vala was submerged; the detour is 37 kilometers, children were switched to home schooling, and the regional Investigative Committee opened a negligence case. In the Kurgan region, traffic was restricted on two road sections, a boat crossing was organized, the Uy River spread to 3.5 kilometers in width, and ice jams on the Miass are being cleared with heavy equipment.
In the Ryazan region, 17 bridges, 5 road sections, and 169 private yards are flooded, while 14 settlements have been completely cut off. In the Vladimir region, in Suzdal, the current damaged a wooden pedestrian bridge near the Spaso-Evfimiev Monastery; regionwide, 5 roads, 5 low-water bridges, and 189 household plots are flooded. In the Sverdlovsk region, two bridges were closed, five settlements were cut off by flooding, and residents of Bilimbay say water reached homes and windows after dams on the Chusovaya were opened.
In the Omsk region, the number of flooded plots has risen to 48, and Pushkino, Tavricheskoye, Okoneshnikovo, and Nikopol are already under water; Governor Vitaly Khotsenko called the situation alarming, and EMERCOM forecasts a flooding risk for up to 144 settlements in 20 districts.
