One of VGTRK’s most prominent propagandists, Andrey Medvedev, has made a film titled “Betrayal” about young people held in pre-trial detention centers and penal colonies on charges linked to terrorism articles.
According to the article, nearly all of the film’s protagonists, except for Denis Popovich and Nikita Ivankovich, who are accused of attempting to murder Metropolitan Tikhon (Shevkunov) and deny guilt, did in fact commit acts that can formally be classified as terrorism or preparation for it. At the same time, the author notes that such qualification requires particularly forceful proof of guilt.
The people featured in the film differ sharply from one another. They come from different cities, belong to different social backgrounds, are of different ages, were driven by different motives, and assess their own actions differently.
Among them are young men who, for money, set fire to relay cabinets and helicopters, Darya Trepova, who handed Vladlen Tatarsky a bust containing explosives, and young women who contacted the Freedom of Russia Legion in an attempt to stop the war.
What unites them, in the author’s view, is one thing: they have either already received, or are threatened with, exceptionally long prison terms, ranging from 12 years to life imprisonment. The youngest defendant mentioned in the text is 14 years old.
