Before the meeting, Zelensky said the document was 90% agreed with the American side. After more than two hours of talks, he repeated the same assessment. Trump, for his part, spoke of 95% readiness, but acknowledged that the outcome remained uncertain: a settlement would either come soon or drag on.
According to the article, two of the hardest issues were still unresolved before the summit: territory and the status of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. Washington was considering compromise options tied to the line of contact and a special regime for certain areas, while Kyiv insisted on freezing positions without recognizing any territorial changes.
There were also disagreements over the plant’s future. The US side was open to a joint management model involving Russia, Ukraine, and the United States, while Kyiv opposed any further Russian role in operating the facility.
“We are at the final stage of negotiations,” Trump said before the meeting, but then added that the process could also stretch out for a long time.

At the same time, Moscow, according to Bloomberg and public statements by Russian officials, sees the document only as a starting point and has shown no readiness for major compromise.
