At the Uspenskaya School in Gorki-2 in the Odintsovo urban district, a knife attack took place on the morning of December 16. According to preliminary reports, a 15-year-old student wounded a security guard and fatally injured a fourth-grade child. The first reports came from the Telegram channels Baza, Ostorozhno, Moskva, 112, and SHOT.
According to TASS, the teenager arrived wearing a balaclava, used pepper spray, and attacked people inside the school. The children’s ombudsperson said one student was killed and three other people were injured. The Investigative Committee later confirmed the child’s death and the wounding of the guard.
Mash reported that the attacker changed clothes in a restroom and then spent several minutes walking through the corridors, entering classrooms, and looking for a specific teacher. Mash and Ostorozhno, Novosti also said he filmed what was happening and posted videos to his Telegram channel.
In one of the videos that spread on social media, the teenager asks people in the hallway about their nationality, after which the security guard orders him to put the knife away. The attack then begins, and a teacher is heard shouting for children to get into classrooms quickly.
The child who was killed was from a Tajik family, according to Ostorozhno Media, citing people who knew his mother. Channel 112 identified him as Kobiljon A. After that, Baza reported, the teenager barricaded himself in a classroom with a hostage. During the assault, security forces detained him and led him out in handcuffs; the hostage was not harmed.
Children were evacuated from the school: more than 100 students took shelter in a nearby sports complex, while others hid in a youth center. According to Ostorozhno, Moskva, parents tried to get their children out even through the windows shortly after the attack. Reports also said that shortly before the assault, the teenager may have assembled an object resembling an improvised explosive device in a restroom, prompting the deployment of dog handlers.
The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case on charges of murder and attempted murder. TASS, citing the Moscow Region branch of the committee, reported that the teenager admitted guilt during questioning. Mash identified him as Timofey K., a student in Class 9-B, and said he had been preparing for the attack for several days, including writing an 11-page manifesto titled “My Anger.” After the attack, security measures were tightened at all schools in the Odintsovo district.
