The subscription-based personal storage service Cherdak has disclosed the последствия of a fire that broke out at one of its warehouses in the Moscow region on September 10. In a statement, the company said the fire was not caused by its actions and that an official investigation is now determining what happened.
The company added that access to the warehouse site remains temporarily restricted. Because of that, the service said, it currently “has no ability to act faster.”
“Unfortunately, the items that had been placed in storage were irretrievably lost. We understand how stressful and painful this is for many of you, and we are very sorry for what happened,” Cherdak said.
The service also said that once the inspection is complete, it will move on to resolving compensation issues and review all customer claims. For now, the company has only announced that it has suspended storage-service charges.
On September 10, Russia’s Emergency Situations Ministry reported a warehouse fire in the settlement of Nekrasovsky. According to the ministry, the blaze covered 13,000 square meters. More than 70 people were involved in extinguishing it, and an Mi-8 helicopter was also used.
According to the Telegram channel Mash, the preliminary damage from the fire exceeds 1 billion rubles.
