Officials in Volzhsky were given drills on carrying out mass mobilization

In Volzhsky, a city in Russia’s Volgograd region, officials took part in drills where they were instructed on how to conduct mass mobilization. The report was published by Radio Svoboda.

According to the outlet, 17 mobilization officers took part in the exercise. They represented the Volgograd, Astrakhan, and Rostov regions, Kalmykia, as well as Russian-controlled Crimea and parts of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

The organizers said that mobilization planning is a “peacetime process.” They added that such exercises are held annually according to plan.

A report on the drills was posted on the social media accounts of the Volzhsky administration. However, RusNews noted that the post was later deleted without explanation.

Against this backdrop, rumors of a possible new wave of mobilization in Russia have intensified in recent months. Those reports have been linked to heavy battlefield losses and a shrinking number of new volunteers.

At the same time, the Russian authorities have not officially confirmed that plans for a new mobilization campaign exist.
