Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said relay devices had been installed in two Belarusian regions bordering Ukraine and that, according to him, they were helping Russia adjust its strikes.
“Can he remove this? Why say he does not want to take part in the war? Let them switch off this equipment. I think a week is enough for him to do it. If he does not, we will,” Zelensky said, referring to Alexander Lukashenko.
The remarks came in response to a statement by Lukashenko, who had apologized for insulting comments about the Ukrainian president made in May. In an interview with Al Arabiya, the Belarusian leader also said that Belarus did not want to go to war.
In late May, after a meeting of the Eurasian Economic Council in Astana, Lukashenko told the TV channel Rossiya 1 that, in his opinion, Zelensky had been speaking under the influence of drugs.
Responding to that, the Ukrainian president said he accepted Lukashenko’s apology, but wanted him to be honest with both him and the Belarusian public.
Zelensky also said that Russia continued to draw Belarus deeper into the war and that Lukashenko, in his view, understood Ukraine would respond to this.
