FSB says Moscow region resident detained over ‘intimidation actions’ against military personnel

The FSB said it had detained a resident of the Moscow region suspected of carrying out “intimidation actions” against three servicemen of the Russian Defense Ministry.

According to the security service, the man was recruited by Ukrainian intelligence through Telegram. The agency claims he was offered work under the cover of employment at a debt collection agency.

“Acting on instructions from his handler, he agreed to the proposed job and in May 2026 carried out so-called intimidation actions at the residential addresses of three Defense Ministry servicemen,” the FSB said.

The agency did not explain what exactly it meant by “intimidation actions” or what the detainee is alleged to have done.

A criminal case has already been opened against the man on charges of hooliganism. The FSB also said that the issue of additionally opening a case under the article on treason is now being considered.

The announcement comes amid a continuing rise in the number of treason and espionage cases in Russia.
