A platform for air defense was likely installed on the roof of a residential complex in Chertanovo

Witnesses in Moscow filmed the installation of an object that, according to ASTRA, may be a platform for placing an air defense system on the roof of a residential building. The structure was reportedly mounted on the Avenue 77 residential complex in Chertanovo.

The footage shows a helicopter hovering above the building with an object suspended on cables. A group of people was waiting on the roof to receive the load. The outlet suggests the structure could be a platform for an air defense system, including a Pantsir unit.

The report says Avenue 77 is the tallest building in Chertanovo, with a height of about 150 to 155 meters and 43 to 45 floors.

Journalists also noted that the Telegram channel Chertanovo, which first published the video on the evening of June 19, deleted it four minutes later.

Another sighting

Later, ASTRA, citing a reader, reported that another helicopter carrying a similar platform was seen in Moscow. The platform was also believed to be intended for placing air defense systems on the roofs of high-rise buildings. That footage was recorded in Veshnyaki in eastern Moscow.

The video shows the helicopter flying over a high-rise at 25k1 Veshnyakovskaya Street and heading northwest toward the city center. It remains unknown where exactly the platform may have been installed.

Context

Earlier in June, the outlet Agentstvo, citing a local resident, reported that an anti-aircraft missile system had already been placed on the roof of a residential building in Sokolniki. It was thought to be a Pantsir-SMD-E modification designed to counter drones.

These reports came after the events of June 18, when Ukrainian forces were said to have launched a record number of drones at Russia. The main target was reported to be the Moscow Oil Refinery, where a major fire broke out, while residents of nearby districts described an “oil rain” and a sharp smell of smoke.
