The FSB said it had detained a Voronezh resident born in 2005 on suspicion of treason. The information was published on the agency’s website.
According to the security service, the young man was recruited by Ukrainian special services through Telegram. The FSB claims that, acting on instructions from a handler and in exchange for payment, he organized surveillance of Russian military facilities in the Moscow region and also searched online for people who could, in the wording of the release, “assist the special services of Ukraine.”
The agency also said the detainee had been involved in the work of Ukrainian scam call centers. According to the FSB, investigators seized his phone, which allegedly contained correspondence indicating unlawful activity.
The release further says that the young man admitted guilt and is “actively” cooperating with the investigation. A court placed him in pretrial detention, and he was sent to a detention center.
What the published video shows
In the video released by the FSB, the detainee says that since July 2025 he had been “part of a criminal group created by an accomplice of the Ukrainian special services to commit fraudulent acts against Russia’s civilian population.”
He says that on the orders of foreign handlers he conducted reconnaissance of military sites and passed on information about technical devices used by Russia in the war. He also says that he searched for couriers on Telegram, recruiting people aged 16 to 30 under the guise of helping participants in the war and promises of easy money.
