Russia’s Federal Antimonopoly Service, or FAS, said that fuel sale listings are no longer being published on the marketplaces Avito, Ozon, and Wildberries. The agency said the measure was introduced to curb the “speculative resale of gasoline and diesel” amid rising prices and supply disruptions on the market.
According to FAS, Avito is temporarily hiding such listings, while Ozon and Wildberries are blocking them before publication at the moderation stage.
At the same time, the regulator said it is continuing to monitor petroleum product prices and assess whether they are justified. The agency said it would respond if violations are found.
FAS also reported carrying out unscheduled inspections of oil traders. Antimonopoly proceedings have already been opened against three companies suspected of collusion.
The agency’s regional divisions have also been instructed to tighten oversight of fuel supplies to the agricultural sector.
It was reported earlier that some Russian regions had banned the sale of gasoline into canisters. In the Amur region’s housing and utilities ministry, for example, officials said the measure was needed to
prevent speculation and avoid artificially provoking panic among the public
Restrictions at gas stations following Ukrainian drone strikes on facilities in Russia’s oil industry have been recorded in more than 30 regions, according to calculations published last week by the BBC Russian Service. In annexed Crimea, fuel sales at gas stations were banned entirely.
