In the Estonian settlement of Rouge, a local resident found a drone in a field while mowing grass. An explosive device weighing about five kilograms was attached to it. This was reported by Harris Puusepp, head of a bureau at Estonia’s Internal Security Service.
According to him, the man discovered the drone on the evening of June 10. Parts of the aircraft were also seen left hanging in a tree.
“A person who went out to mow grass found a drone lying in the tall grass. Some parts of the drone were still left in the tree, so apparently it fell from there,” Puusepp said.
Puusepp suggested that the drone may have fallen into the field on June 3, when Estonian Air Force radars detected drones during a Ukrainian attack on Russia. Fighter jets were then dispatched to intercept them.
The official said the radar track of one of the drones soon disappeared not far from the place where the wreckage was later found.
In recent months, drones have repeatedly entered the airspace of European countries, primarily Estonia, Lithuania, and Latvia. The authorities of those states have said these were Ukrainian drones that crossed the border because of Russian electronic warfare measures.
Russia, for its part, accuses the Baltic states of allowing Ukrainian drones to use their airspace for attacks on Russian regions.
