Five people were killed in a missile strike on Voronezh on June 22, according to Voronezh region governor Alexander Gusev. He said several dozen residents sought medical assistance, but most were treated and sent home.
The governor said the heaviest damage was recorded at an industrial facility on the left bank of the city. A fire broke out there, but it has since been extinguished. Emergency crews are still clearing the rubble.
Gusev did not specify which enterprise was hit. At the same time, Russia’s consumer safety watchdog Rospotrebnadzor said it had found no excessive concentrations of hazardous substances in the air after the strike.
Falling debris also damaged the facades and windows of 10 apartment buildings. Roofs were damaged at six private homes as well.
“Unfortunately, the attack once again confirmed that recommendations for various threats are written in blood. Most of the plant’s workers managed to get to the shelter and, despite significant damage to the building, were unharmed. Those who suffered were the ones who ignored the missile alert warning, both at the enterprise and on the street,” the governor said.
According to OSINT analysts, the target was the main building of the Sborka semiconductor device plant. Ukraine’s General Staff confirmed the strike on the facility. The plant is under Western sanctions and is said to manufacture electronics for Iskander and Kh-101 missiles, as well as for Pantsir-S1 air defense systems.
