The Izmailovsky District Court of Moscow placed Maksim Glushkovsky in pretrial detention in a case in which he is accused of terrorism committed by a group acting in prior collusion. Mediazona drew attention to the court ruling.
According to the court order, the criminal case was first opened on May 26, 2026, under the article on attempted intentional destruction of property, but was reclassified the next day as a terrorism case. The materials do not disclose what specific act Glushkovsky is accused of. Mediazona notes that in practice such reclassification often occurs in cases involving arson attacks on relay cabinets or mobile communication towers.
The court said Glushkovsky was detained on May 29 at 21:00. He was charged and questioned the same day, and the following day the court ordered his detention pending trial.
Three days before the arrest, the Cheryomushkinsky District Court of Moscow fined Glushkovsky under three administrative protocols for incitement of hatred or enmity. The cases were linked to posts in his Telegram channel “Bolgarsky Staf | Bg Staff”, now renamed “Thomas Shelby”. Glushkovsky himself wrote that the fine amounted to 15,000 rubles.
The first protocol concerned a track titled “Uruzkaya obshchina khuyesosy,” which Glushkovsky described as a diss track aimed at the “Russian Community.” An expert review by the National Public Center of Expertise found signs of incitement to hostility as well as humiliation of dignity on ethnic and religious grounds. The court order says Glushkovsky admitted guilt and said he recorded the diss track because, in his view, the “Russian Community” had promised to protect Russians from foreign migrants but instead justified crimes committed by migrants.
The second protocol stemmed from a post in which he called for a “mass raid of complaints” against the Telegram channel x359x. The third was based on a video in support of Ilya “Kvas,” which has also since been deleted. According to the court, that video used insulting language, including against members of the “Russian Community” association.
The detention ruling also says Glushkovsky has an outstanding conviction. Mediazona notes that he has been convicted multiple times. The most recent sentence was handed down in April 2023, when Moscow’s Meshchansky District Court sentenced him to four years in a maximum-security penal colony in a robbery case. Before that, he had received both suspended and real prison terms in theft and death-threat cases.
