Moscow’s Tverskoy District Court fined two volunteers who were on duty at the site where politician Boris Nemtsov was killed on Bolshoy Moskvoretsky Bridge in the city center.
According to Sotavision, Viktor Kogan and Alexey Sokirko were found guilty under a protocol on disobeying police. The court imposed fines of 4,000 rubles on each of them.
The Telegram channel Nemtsov Bridge reported that both activists were detained directly on Bolshoy Moskvoretsky Bridge, where an informal memorial stands at the site of the politician’s killing.
According to law enforcement, the volunteers refused to enter a police vehicle that had arrived at the memorial. That, according to the authorities’ account, was the basis for the administrative charges of disobedience.
Earlier, RusNews wrote that the police action followed a complaint filed against Kogan and Sokirko by unidentified people. After that, police officers photographed the volunteers’ badges bearing Boris Nemtsov’s image.
The two men were then taken to Kitay-Gorod police station. At the time of the detention, reports said they were being accused of taking part in an unauthorized public action.
