Industrial facilities at one enterprise in Volgograd’s Krasnooktyabrsky district were damaged in a strike on the Volgograd region, according to the regional administration.
Officials said 10 people were injured, but their lives are not in danger. They also stated that no residential buildings were damaged. Fires that broke out after the attack have already been extinguished.
Possible target of the strike
ASTRA, citing videos from Ukrainian monitoring channels, reported that the target may have been the Titan-Barrikady military plant, which manufactures artillery and missile equipment. The enterprise is part of Roscosmos and is under Western sanctions.
The plant is reported to produce launchers for the Yars, Topol-M, Iskander-M, and Sarmat missile systems. Lenina Avenue runs through the Krasnooktyabrsky district named by the authorities, and the plant’s official address indicates that Titan-Barrikady is located there.
Weapon reportedly used
According to ASTRA and Denis Shtilerman, head of the Ukrainian company Fire Point, the strike was carried out with Ukrainian long-range Flamingo cruise missiles.
Context
The BBC notes that this is the second known strike on Russian defense enterprises in recent days. On June 22, Ukrainian missiles struck Voronezh, where a semiconductor device plant was hit. According to available reports, five people were killed.
