On the evening of June 26, the operational headquarters of Russia’s Murmansk region published a warning in its Telegram channel for residents of four border districts. The post urged people to remain especially vigilant because, according to the message, Russia had recorded “cases of activity by foreign sabotage and reconnaissance groups.”
Activist Violetta Grudina drew attention to the post after it appeared. About an hour and a half later, the message was deleted from the headquarters’ channel.
A copy of the deleted post, the report says, remained available through the Tgstat service. It is not known why the authorities chose to remove the publication.
The warning told residents to contact the police or the FSB if they noticed suspicious people or abandoned items outside populated areas.
At the same time, the operational headquarters did not clarify whether any such saboteurs had been identified specifically in the Murmansk region. The region borders Norway and Finland.
