During the night of June 27, the Armed Forces of Ukraine attacked Volgograd, according to Volgograd region governor Andrei Bocharov. He said the Russian Defense Ministry repelled an attack by “high-speed aerial targets,” but one industrial facility in the city was damaged.
Bocharov said that 10 people were injured and hospitalized as a result of the strike. Fires that broke out after the attack were later extinguished, the authorities said. Residential buildings were reportedly not damaged.
The Telegram channel Astra, after analyzing eyewitness footage published in Ukrainian monitoring channels, reported that the target was the military plant Titan-Barrikady. Ukrainian Telegram channels, for their part, said the facility was hit by Ukrainian long-range cruise missiles called Flamingo, and that at least two impacts were recorded.
“Volgograd is welcoming the seasonal migration of flamingos from Ukraine,” Denis Shtilerman, chief designer at the Ukrainian company Fire Point, which manufactures Flamingo missiles, wrote on X.
The Titan-Barrikady enterprise is part of the state corporation Roscosmos and produces, among other things, artillery and missile equipment. The plant previously developed launchers for the Topol, Iskander, Tochka-U, Pioneer, and Oka missile systems.
According to Ukrainian intelligence data, the enterprise is also the developer of the launcher for the Oreshnik missile system. The plant is under Western sanctions. According to the source text, Russia has used Oreshnik systems three times during the full-scale war: in November 2024 against the Yuzhmash plant in Dnipro, in January 2026 against Lviv region, and in May 2026 against Kyiv region.
