In Volgograd, security forces detained at least three local residents who filmed the aftermath of a missile strike on a military facility that took place the day before. The reports were published by Govorit NeMoskva, V1_ru, and Bloknot Volgograd, citing law enforcement sources.
According to those accounts, one of the detainees sent the recording to a work chat in the Max messenger, while another forwarded the video to relatives and friends. A third detainee, a young man, said he had posted the footage on his Telegram channel, which had 60 to 70 subscribers.
All three reportedly said they filmed the scene on their own initiative and did not understand what consequences this could entail. After being detained, they apologized and urged others not to record or publish footage of attacks, air defense activity, or the aftermath of strikes.
No criminal cases against them have been reported. At the same time, V1_ru wrote that the Volgograd residents could face punishment under the article on high treason. Bloknot Volgograd reported that one of the men “faces up to 20 years” for distributing footage that, according to law enforcement, could have helped the Ukrainian armed forces identify the location of air defense systems.
Context
As the outlet Ostorozhno, Novosti previously noted, since 2025 the Volgograd Region has banned filming and publishing footage of drone use, the operation of air defense and electronic warfare systems, as well as drone crash sites. Violations carry administrative liability.
