The bodies of two women and one man with bodily injuries were found in a private home in Taganrog, according to the information center of the Russian Investigative Committee. The agency said law enforcement officers had identified a person they believe was involved in committing an especially grave crime.
The Interior Ministry said the suspect is an entrepreneur. After the incident, he left the scene by car. The names of the dead and official details of the criminal case had not been disclosed at the time of publication.
What is known about the incident
According to the Telegram channel Baza, the suspect is 44-year-old Yevgeny, whose last name was not given. The channel reported that he killed his wife’s father and shot her mother and grandmother with a Saiga carbine. Baza said the man then fled together with his father, Leonid.
Police launched the Intercept manhunt plan in the city. The suspect was later detained in Rostov.
Reported motive and background
Baza reported that the killings took place during the couple’s divorce. According to that account, they had been unable to divide property and resolve a dispute over the upbringing of their three children.
Baza also said Yevgeny runs a driving school and previously served in law enforcement. Local residents told the outlet that he was dismissed in 2002 after beating a person. The suspect’s wife, Oksana, is a Taganrog city duma deputy representing United Russia.
