A court in Poland has sentenced Russian opposition activist Igor Rogov to seven years in prison. His wife, Irina Rogova, received a three-year sentence. Both were found guilty in a case involving work for the FSB, according to the outlet Vot Tak.
The couple had remained in pretrial detention while awaiting the verdict. Because of that, part of their sentence will be credited: Igor is expected to be released in about five years, while Irina could be freed in one year and six months.
The proceedings were held behind closed doors. Official details of the trial were not disclosed.
According to investigators, Rogov cooperated with the FSB from February to August 2022. Prosecutors say he collected information about members of the Russian opposition living in Poland, as well as about the people and organizations assisting them.
The investigation alleges that Rogov passed the information to his wife, who then forwarded it to FSB officers in Russia.
The source also says investigators considered the possibility that Rogov had links to Ukrainian intelligence. A separate episode from 2024 is also mentioned: an unknown woman from Krakow sent a package in his name containing components for an improvised bomb. Rogov never collected the parcel.
Later, according to Vot Tak, it emerged that the bomb may have been part of a covert operation by Ukrainian special services.
