The Saratov oil refinery, owned by Rosneft, has halted oil processing after an attack by Ukrainian drones. Reuters reported this, citing two sources.
According to the agency, the drones struck the CDU-6 primary oil processing unit, which has a capacity of 20,000 tons per day. Reuters notes that this is the plant’s only unit of that type, so the damage effectively forced processing to stop.
The agency also recalls that the Saratov refinery had already suspended operations after drone attacks earlier this year. Reuters says this happened in March and May.
The day before, Saratov region governor Roman Busargin said that one person was killed and several others were injured in the attack during the night of July 8. He also said that “civilian industrial facilities” were damaged, but did not specify which ones.

Reuters notes that in 2024 the Saratov refinery processed 5.8 million tons of oil. That amounted to 2.2% of Russia’s total oil refining volume at the time.
The report about the refinery’s shutdown is attributed by Reuters to its sources, while regional authorities did not publicly specify which industrial sites were affected by the strike.
