According to Moscow region governor Andrei Vorobyov, a Ukrainian drone attack on the region left three people dead and five others injured.
Vorobyov said the victims were three residents of the Pionersky settlement in the Istra district. He added that three other people were injured there, and that five private homes caught fire after the strike.
Vorobyov also said that 81 drones were shot down over the Moscow region in total. In Solnechnogorsk, he said, a drone hit an apartment building, injuring two people.
He also reported that two private houses were damaged in the village of Babkino, while an apartment building was damaged in Mozhaisk.
Vorobyov added that air defense systems were continuing to repel the drone attack.
Moscow mayor Sergei Sobyanin said that since the evening of July 12, more than 350 Ukrainian drones had been flying toward the Moscow region. He claimed that most were intercepted “at distant approaches,” while another 50 were shot down “on the approach to Moscow.”
For its part, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that 342 Ukrainian drones had been downed overnight over 14 regions and annexed Crimea.
