Residents of the northern districts of annexed Crimea say on social media and in comments under posts by the local “authorities” that their towns and villages have been without electricity for more than a week.
One post published by the Telegram channel “ChP Simferopol” says that power was not restored even once over seven days. The author also rejects rumors that electricity is being supplied for several hours a day and says the settlement is completely cut off.
Under a post by Crimea’s “head” Sergey Aksyonov, residents of the north of the peninsula also wrote that electricity had been absent for at least a week. According to several comments, Dzhankoi and the Dzhankoi district have been without power for 13 days. In the Krasnoperekopsk district, one user said the outage has lasted for more than ten days. Residents of Armyansk reported 11 days without electricity.
One local resident said that on July 3 electricity was restored for about an hour and a half, but at low voltage. According to her, over the past two weeks homes received power for a total of about 12 hours. In the Nizhnegorsky district in the northeast of the peninsula, one resident said there has been no electricity for around nine days. Before that, he said, power had been supplied for only three hours a day.
What the “authorities” say
Sergey Aksyonov said that it is currently impossible to draw up precise electricity supply schedules and promised to explain the reasons for the outages after the crisis situation ends. He also said street lighting would be reduced in all municipalities, stressing that this should not affect power supplies to residential buildings.
“Unfortunately, there are settlements where there has been no electricity for more than 12 days,” Aksyonov said, adding that deliveries of автономous generators are starting with the localities that have gone the longest without power.
