Ukraine and nine other European states have announced the creation of an integrated coalition in the field of anti-ballistic defense.
In addition to Ukraine, the grouping includes the United Kingdom and eight European countries: Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, and Denmark.
According to the participants, the coalition is expected to work on building an integrated missile defense architecture designed to deter future missile threats. The new concept is intended to complement missile defense systems that already operate in European countries.
At the first stage, the countries plan to establish technical working groups. Their task will be to prepare a roadmap that will help assess the participants’ joint operational capabilities and define the next steps for coordination.
In recent months, European states have been discussing how to reshape their own security arrangements. This comes amid deteriorating relations with the United States and threats by Donald Trump to withdraw the country from NATO.
The European Union also wants to reduce its dependence on the United States in defense matters. According to the report, this course is being considered especially closely against the backdrop of a potential direct conflict with Russia.
