On the night of July 12 in the settlement of Malinovka in the Achinsk district, a man who had taken part in the war against Ukraine hit two women with his car. This was reported by the local outlet Gorod “A”, which published eyewitness footage. The Krasnoyarsk region police department later confirmed the incident.
According to the outlet and the police, the confrontation occurred near the House of Culture, where a concert marking the Day of Family, Love and Fidelity was being held. After the event ended, the man drove onto the square in a KIA Sorento. Witnesses said the car first drove into benches and then struck a 42-year-old woman.
After that, one of the onlookers threw a bottle at the vehicle, and a 32-year-old House of Culture employee tried to stop it. According to the report, she braced her hands against the hood, but the driver kept moving, ran over her and fled the scene.
The cultural center employee is now in serious condition and has been diagnosed with pelvic fractures. The first injured woman was sent for outpatient treatment.
Traffic police stopped the KIA Sorento while it was traveling northeast of Malinovka toward the Achinsk pig-breeding complex. According to Gorod “A”, the driver had 0.92 milligrams of ethanol per liter of exhaled air. The outlet also reported that he did not have a driver’s license.
Local residents told reporters that the man had recently returned from the war and bought an apartment in Malinovka. He is also said to have a disability and to use a leg prosthesis. The Interior Ministry says the driver is 32 years old.
A criminal case has been opened against him under the article on intentional infliction of moderate bodily harm. He has been placed under a travel restriction order; the maximum penalty under this article is up to five years in prison. Police also filed administrative reports against him for drunk driving without a license and license plates, leaving the scene of a crash, failing to comply with a police order to stop, and non-payment of fines.
