The Ivanovo Regional Court said it had upheld the decision to place a 31-year-old native of the city under arrest in absentia in a case over participation in the organizations of Alexei Navalny. Information published in the court database indicates that the person in question is Andrei Akhmedulov, a former employee of Navalny’s offices in Ivanovo and Voronezh.
According to the report, in February 2026 Akhmedulov was added to Russia’s list of terrorists and extremists, which is maintained by Rosfinmonitoring. Shortly before that, he was likely charged in absentia under Article 282.2, Part 2 of the Russian Criminal Code, which concerns participation in an extremist organization.
Back in June, a district court in Ivanovo reported the arrest in absentia at the request of an FSB investigator, but did not disclose the defendant’s name. At that time, the Sova Center, citing open-source data, and the local outlet Ivanovskie Novosti, citing an unnamed source, suggested that the case concerned Akhmedulov. There was no official confirmation then.
The court summarized the accusation as follows:
“Since 2021, the accused has been participating in an organization that was banned by the Moscow City Court in 2021.”
