Consumer gasoline prices in Russia rose by 2.3% in the week of July 7 to 13, while diesel fuel prices increased by 3.2%. The figures were published by Rosstat.
Compared with the previous week, the pace of gasoline price growth accelerated again. In the prior period, June 30 to July 6, gasoline prices had risen by 2.1%. Diesel price growth, by contrast, slowed slightly: in the previous week it had been 3.4%.
Overall weekly inflation in Russia for the period July 7 to 13 stood at 0.17%, according to the state statistics agency.
The sharpest weekly jump in gasoline prices this year was recorded two weeks earlier, from June 16 to 22, when fuel prices climbed by 3%.
Since the beginning of the year, gasoline prices have increased by 16.4%, Rosstat said. Against that backdrop, Reuters reported on July 10 that, following Ukrainian drone strikes on oil refineries, gasoline production in Russia had fallen to about 65% of average seasonal consumption.
The official data therefore show another spell of accelerated price growth for motor fuel, while weekly diesel price increases remain even more pronounced.
