During the night of July 16, Russian forces launched a missile strike on Kyiv. The head of the city military administration, Tymur Tkachenko, reported the attack.
According to Mayor Vitali Klitschko, two people were killed and six others were injured. Among the wounded, he said, was a 16-year-old teenager.
The State Emergency Service of Ukraine said two districts of the capital were hit. In the Darnytskyi district, a fire broke out in a non-residential building, as well as in parked trucks nearby and at a warehouse.
In the Sviatoshynskyi district, rescuers said a warehouse also caught fire after the strike. Emergency services later reported that the fires had been extinguished.
For its part, the Russian Defense Ministry said the strikes targeted military-industrial enterprises in Kyiv, as well as ports and two vessels in the Odesa region.
The July 16 attack was described as the second in the past week. The previous strike on the Ukrainian capital was carried out by Russian forces on July 14.
