In Moscow, a court ordered the pretrial detention of two foreign students whom investigators believe were involved in setting fire to railway relay cabinets. Their detention was announced by Interior Ministry spokesperson Irina Volk. According to her, transport police carried out the operation with support from the FSB and the National Guard.
According to the Interior Ministry, two relay cabinets were set on fire on a section of the Paveletsky line of the Moscow Railway. The ministry says the incident did not disrupt the train schedule.
Investigators say an unidentified person contacted one of the students via messenger and offered money to set fire to transport infrastructure facilities. He allegedly agreed and involved an acquaintance. The two men recorded the job on video and later, police say, received $300.
A criminal case has been opened on terrorism charges. According to Moskovsky Komsomolets, both defendants are 21 years old, came from Algeria, and studied at a “university of technology and design.” The paper says the arson attacks took place in May 2026 on the Ugreskaya–Lyublino stretch and reports that three cabinets, not two, were burned.
Mediazona found case records on the website of the Zamoskvoretsky District Court for the arrest of two foreign nationals, M. Dakhouman and A. Buferrash. Both are charged with committing a terrorist act by prior conspiracy. The detention motions for both men were registered on June 6.
The Moscow City Court website also contains an appellate ruling upholding the detention of M. Dakhouman. The document states that he lives in a dormitory. A dormitory placement list on the website of the Kosygin Russian State University names Massi Dakhouman as a student of the Institute of Economics and Management.
