Criminal case opened against journalist Marina Skorikova over calls for activity against state security

The Investigative Committee’s branch for Yaroslavl Region has opened a criminal case over calls for activity against state security against a person listed in Russia’s “foreign agents” register. The agency announced this on its website.

The YarNews outlet reported that the person in question is journalist Marina Skorikova. TASS and RIA Novosti published the same information, citing sources in the security services.

According to investigators, the case was opened on the basis of materials from the Yaroslavl Region FSB directorate. The stated reason was a post on an unnamed social network that, according to the Investigative Committee, Skorikova published while outside Russia.

The agency said it plans to charge her in absentia, place her on a wanted list, and ask a court to order her arrest in absentia.

Marina Skorikova is a journalist with the outlet “7x7” and head of the Reforum Space Vilnius resource center. YarNews noted that she previously worked in Yaroslavl for the NTM television channel.

In March 2026, the Justice Ministry added Skorikova to the “foreign agents” register.
