The Moscow City Court has published the case record for the appeal against the arrest of former Aeroflot CEO Mikhail Poluboyarinov, who is accused of abuse of official powers under Part 3 of Article 285 of the Russian Criminal Code. Mediazona drew attention to the publication.
According to the court record, the hearing on the appeal against his detention is scheduled for the morning of July 22 and is expected to be held in open court.
Mediazona notes that the case record appeared only a month after Poluboyarinov’s actual arrest. This is the first official confirmation of the criminal case, which had previously been reported only by Mediazona. Until now, according to the outlet, the Interior Ministry and the courts had either declined to comment or denied that the arrest had taken place.
Sources cited by Vedomosti and RBC link Poluboyarinov’s arrest to the case of his former colleague at Vnesheconombank (VEB.RF), Artem Dovlatov, who was placed under house arrest in April.
According to RBC’s account, the case may have been opened in connection with the rehabilitation of Svyaz-Bank and Globex Bank in 2016.
After leaving VEB, Poluboyarinov was appointed head of Aeroflot in 2020, but stepped down two years later after personal sanctions were imposed on him. He later took a job at the state corporation Rostec. Mediazona says the corporation confirmed that at the time of his arrest he was employed by one of its subsidiaries.
