On July 18, blogger Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan were detained in Miami. According to Associated Press and The Guardian, British authorities are seeking their extradition on numerous charges including rape, human trafficking, the distribution of extremist pornography, and other offenses.
According to the reports, the brothers were detained by the US Marshals Service under a sealed warrant. They are expected to appear before a federal court in Miami early next week. Details of the US proceedings have not yet been disclosed.

British prosecutors say Andrew Tate faces 7 rape charges, 3 charges of arranging or facilitating human trafficking for sexual exploitation, 3 counts of actual bodily harm, and 19 offenses related to indecent images of a child and extremist pornography.
Tristan Tate faces 2 rape charges, 1 charge of sexual assault, and 3 charges of arranging or facilitating human trafficking. Bedfordshire Police said the total number of charges against the brothers has now reached 59: 42 against Andrew Tate and 17 against Tristan. Investigators say the alleged crimes were committed between July 2010 and August 2017.
Background of the case
The brothers had already been detained in Romania in late 2022 on accusations of human trafficking, rape, and forming an organized criminal group. In 2024, a court sent that case back to prosecutors because of procedural violations. In February 2025, the Tates were allowed to leave Romania for Florida, although the investigation against them continued. The brothers deny the allegations.
