Overnight on July 20, the Moscow region came under a drone attack, Governor Andrei Vorobyov said. According to Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, more than 400 drones had been heading toward the capital region since the evening, with most of them neutralized on distant approaches. He said 85 drones were shot down while approaching Moscow.
Vorobyov said that in Odintsovo, a car and a private house were damaged. In Podolsk, he said, fires broke out after drones fell, and several civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged. The governor did not specify which sites were affected. A private house was also damaged in the village of Maloye Tolbino.
Astra, after reviewing published videos and photographs, reported that an oil depot in Podolsk had been hit and caught fire. A warehouse in the Yuzhnye Vorota industrial complex in Domodedovo was also reported to be on fire. Another drone struck a multi-story residential building in Domodedovo.
Residents of the village of Koledino in the Podolsk urban district also reported a fire at a Wildberries logistics center. The company’s press service said the warehouse continued operating normally. It added that an evacuation had been carried out earlier for safety reasons, after which employees returned to their workplaces.
According to Vorobyov, one person was injured in Domodedovo in a fire at a private house, and another was hurt on the M-4 highway, where a drone fell next to a car. Later, Domodedovo Hospital said that six injured people with blast-related injuries of varying severity had been brought in; three of them were foreign nationals.
Later, Domodedovo district head Yevgenia Khrustaleva confirmed a fire on the grounds of the Yuzhnye Vorota industrial park and that a drone had struck a multi-story building on Kuryzhova Street. She initially said two people had been injured, but later уточнила that six people were in Domodedovo Hospital.
