Azerbaijani police have started visiting the residences of Russian nationals to conduct forced document checks, according to reports from both the Russian Embassy in Baku and the "Kovcheg" project, which assists Russian emigrants.

The embassy stated it has received numerous complaints from Russian citizens residing in Azerbaijan. Individuals dressed in civilian clothing have been arriving at their homes, questioning them about their reasons for staying in the country and inspecting their documents. While some identified themselves as police officers, several Russians reported experiencing physical violence during these encounters.

The Russian diplomatic mission urged its citizens in Azerbaijan to immediately report any such incidents using their emergency contact number.
