Post-mortem examinations revealed extensive physical trauma on the bodies of Azerbaijani citizens Ziyaddin and Huseyn Safarov, who died following their detention in Yekaterinburg. Adalat Hasanov, leading the Forensic Medical Examination Department at Azerbaijan's Health Ministry, disclosed these findings after conducting autopsies.
Medical reports indicated Ziyaddin Safarov suffered fractured ribs, multiple internal hemorrhages, blunt chest trauma, and groin contusions. Notably, one rib was entirely missing from his remains. Hasanov concluded Ziyaddin's death resulted from traumatic shock, contradicting earlier Russian Investigative Committee claims of cardiac failure.
Forensic analysis of Huseyn Safarov's body, as reported by Minval citing Azerbaijani experts, documented a fractured nose and ribs, chest deformation, a severe inner thigh abrasion, and widespread bruising. Examiners attributed his death to combined traumatic and hemorrhagic shock. Both victims' injuries were confirmed to have been caused by blunt-force instruments.
Azerbaijan's Prosecutor General has initiated criminal proceedings regarding the Safarov brothers' deaths, charging torture and aggravated premeditated murder.
