An administrative protocol has been drawn up in Russia against the hotel booking service Booking.com under the article on “LGBT propaganda” among minors. The case materials were submitted to the Tagansky District Court of Moscow, according to Mediazona.
The court data made public do not indicate what exactly prompted the protocol. The details of the claims against the service have not been disclosed so far.
Mediazona notes that this is the first known administrative protocol of this kind brought directly against Booking.com in Russia.
After the start of the full-scale war in 2022, the company removed all Russian hotels from its platform. Before that, Booking.com held a significant share of the domestic hotel-booking market.
According to estimates previously cited by Interfax, the service accounted for 60–70% of hotel room bookings within Russia.
At the same time, Russian users’ personal accounts remained active. Users in Russia can still book accommodation abroad through the service if they use foreign bank cards.
